The bank removed Anthropic's Claude models from an internal list of approved LLMs that employees on the island could use, says the [FT](https://www.ft.com/content/de83d303-6a03-456b-bfb9-7b11dd502ab3), citing sources. The decision was made because of the usage terms in the licensing agreement between [JPMorgan](https://www.finextra.com/company-news/2531/jpmorgan-chase) and Anthropic. In April, it emerged that [Goldman Sachs had also removed access to Claude models](https://www.finextra.com/newsarticle/47671/goldman-sachs-stops-hong-kong-bankers-from-using-claude) after the bank took a strict interpretation of its contract with the AI firm. The removal of Claude access for Hong Kong-based staff comes amid growing tensions between the US and China over AI. The American government has issued warnings about Chinses firms allegedly stealing the technology. Models from US firms are not available in mainland China but some are in use by American companies in Hong Kong.
